About Me
I studied art history in college and learned about artistic project management at MTV where for 3 years I kept the product design teams in line. My last two projects at MTV involved managing the design and construction of their trade fair space and the MTV store in Times Square. Inspired I decided to go back to school and ended up at FIT in their interior design program. While at school, I landed an internship as a materials librarian for the Rockwell Group, and when I finished they hired me as an interior designer.
For the 2 years that I was at Rockwell, it was a non-stop crazy race. I contributed to about a dozen projects, but there were three that I was central to: Noché. Sushi Samba in Chicago, and Rosa Mexicana in Washington DC. While my specific role varied, I was basically involved in helping these projects go from concept to full production design and through construction. I worked as part of a team of designers and architects, spec’ed materials, designed furniture and fabrics, worked with the developers on the budgets, and then helped monitor the construction.
In 2004, I gave birth to my first daughter and shortly after that, my little family moved to Barcelona, Spain for a year. Then in May 2006, back in NYC, I gave birth to my second daughter. Motherhood is pretty all consuming, but between Barcelona and New York, I’ve always been connected to the design field.
In January 2007 I decided to go back to work and took a job with Seed Design. I worked with them until February 2008. We worked on a myriad of projects including a Pool Bar for Disney, the nightclub at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami, and another nightclub in Vegas for MGM. I’ve decided to pursue the green side of the business and get Leed Certified but am also working on my own design projects here in New York.
My blog and the slide show under My Favorite Things show you a little bit of what’s been catching my eye. Come back and visit often.
